Contrapuntal texture
Contrapuntal motion is the general movement of two melodic lines with respect to each other
Parallel motion is motion in the same direction keeping the same interval between them.
Similar motion is movement in the same direction but the interval between the notes can change.
Contrary motion is movement of the notes in opposite directions on the stave.
Oblique motion is where one melodic line moves up or down on the stave while the other remains at the same pitch (almost like a drone).
Polyphonic texture
Polyphonic music consists of two or more independent melody lines that weave in and out of each other.
